Sights of Gyömrő.

One fine day at the Owl Inn, the former mayor of Rotterdam asked in German “What’s there to see in Gyömrő?” For us locals, the answer is natural, but we think it is important to give a brief overview that is not exhaustive, but lists some of them. The sights listed are the stops on a tour which should be visited by anyone who wants to know the answer to the above question.

STONE BRIDGE

In 815, on the basis of a report by Pál Bárczay, the chief bailiff, it was decided to build a stone bridge on the site of the damaged wooden bridge. The stone bridge helped the passage of the salt road from Szolnok to Pest along the Fish Creek.

ARTESIAN WELL

Drilling began in 1924, the well was completed in 1926 and provides healthy cold water day and night.

TŐZEGES LAKE

The headwaters of the Fish Creek are in the days of the Fishing Pond peat, fed by several bottom springs.

THE LAKE-BEACH

The polygonal body of water rising from the depths and the surrounding trees, a green environment, has been an official beach since 1926.

MÁNYARÉT

On 3 July 1705, Ferenc Rákóczy I. made his famous speech on this place.It was here that he first formulated his command to love his country.The monument built on the site of the famous speech was inaugurated on 3 July 1955.

TELEKI CHEST

The Teleki Castle was built in 1847 in neoclassical style after the previous castle burnt down.

COUNTRY HOUSE

In the village of Hauptszög, at the Gr.Teleki út 74 no. The house below the house is a museum of a typical 19th century house in Gyömrő.

REFORMED CHURCH

The Reformed church was given its present form in 1928. Today the church has a single nave, a central tower and a neoclassical style.

CATHOLIC CHURCH

A small Catholic church was consecrated in 1777 in honour of St John Nepomuk.
